Academic Medicine
The AAMC's peer-reviewed journal provides up-to-date information on curricular developments. Available at most school libraries. For subscription information, contact AAMC Publications.

Medical schools continually conduct intensive reviews of their educational programs and instructional methods to improve the quality of medical education. These efforts have resulted in an interdisciplinary approach to the presentation of individual course content and increased emphasis on the functional applications of structure. Opportunities for independent study and elective coursework have become basic to the medical school curriculum. The establishment of separate learning tracks of varying durations at individual schools represents another curricular innovation.

The AAMC Curriculum Directory provides a comprehensive description of medical student education programs at the 126 U.S. and 16 Canadian medical schools. This online resource enables searches for instructional and curricular innovations, grading intervals, required courses and clerkships, and combined degree programs.

Use the Curriculum Directory to find combined degree programs, including:

  • BS/MD
  • MD/JD
  • MD/MBA
  • MD/MPH
  • MD/PhD
